Stanton January 25, 1939 – October 28, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Katherine Quintus Stanton died in Leesburg, Virginia from complications of kidney failure on October 28, 2019. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Stanley (Chick) Stanton, and is survived by her son, Matthew Stanton, her daughter, Kasey Hyman, grandsons Seth Hyman and Alec Stanton, granddaughters Rebecca Hyman and Emily Stanton, brothers Paul Joseph Quintus and John Allen Quintus, as well as cousins across the country who remember her with great affection. Katherine was born on January 25, 1939, in Washington, DC and attended Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, Virginia. She received her undergraduate degree from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and her masters from The George Washington University in the District of Columbia. Katie taught French in the District’s public schools and later was both a teacher and Director of Admissions for many years at the National Presbyterian School in DC. Katie was a long-term resident of McLean, Virginia before moving in retirement to Purcellville, Virginia. She was an avid bridge player and an accomplished crossword puzzle solver. She was also much appreciated for her neighborhood Christmas parties both in McLean and Purcellville, and for her support of the Purcellville Fire Department and Senior Center. Katie will be remembered by her family and friends for her generosity, intelligence, and loving kindness. A memorial service at Arlington National Cemetery will be announced later. Contributions in her name may be sent to the Purcellville Fire Department and the Diabetes Foundation.
