Karen Kay Kerrick February 19, 1940 – October 1, 2019 Karen Kay Kerrick went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, October 1, 2019, while under care at Sacred Heart Hospital. She was 79. Karen was preceded in death by her husband Larry; as well as her six siblings. Survivors include her daughter, Michelle Mertins (Steve) of Pensacola; Son, Jay Kerrick (Tracey) of Sarasota, FL; and four grandchildren, Nathan Mertins, Harry Mertins, Elena Kerrick, and Grant Kerrick. Karen attended Henry County schools in Missouri before moving to Kansas City and meeting her future husband and lifelong partner Larry, while on the job when they both worked at Union Wire Rope. Karen and Larry were married in December 1958. After starting a family, they fell in love with Pensacola while vacationing, and decided to move and make Pensacola their permanent home. Karen would hold administrative positions with the Florida Highway Patrol and Levin Law firm before retiring to devote more time to personal endeavors and passions. She was an avid gardener and loved treasure hunting antiques. The unifying theme in those pursuits was her love of her country roots and family. Karen was devoted to family, especially her grandchildren, and reveled in their accomplishments both small and great. Karen and Larry were 40 years members of McIlwain Memorial Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held there for Karen on Saturday October 19, 10:00 am.
