Julie’s Obituary Rochester, NH- Julie M. Brown, 84, of Caribbean Lane passed away suddenly Saturday Oct. 5, 2019 at Frisbie Memorial Hospital. She was born Feb. 20, 1935 in Worcester, MA the daughter of the late Jesse and Helen (Follett) Hill. Julie has resided in Rochester for the past 50 years. She attended State Teachers College in Worcester, MA. Julie was an active member of the community spending 24 years in the NH House of Legislature, 15 years as a Board Member and Chair on the Rochester Planning Board and 15 years on the Community Action Partnership of Strafford County Board of Directors as a Board Member and Board Chair. She served as chairman of the local Ronald Reagan Campaign in NH and in 2012 she was awarded the top honor from the NH Coalition Against Domestic and ual Violence, the Hall of Fame Award. She also received the prestigious “New Hampshire Voice for Children Award” presented by Child and Family Services of New Hampshire in 1996. She was voted outstanding Leader for the American Cancer Society in NH and was former President of the New Hampshire Order of Women Legislators. Most recently she was serving her 12th year as a Board Member of the Rochester School Board and Chair of the Discipline Committee, she was also on the Rochester Recreation & Arena Advisory Commission, and the Board of Directors for Strafford Nutrition Meals on Wheels. Julie was a longtime member of the First Church Congregational UCC and life member of the James Farrington Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. The widow of Robert Brown who passed in 2000, she is survived by children, Jeffrey Figgins and wife Aleshia of Bangor, ME, Jonathan Brown of Barrington, Jennifer Wiggin and husband Gary of Lebanon, ME., Becky Brown and companion Bryan Lane of Sanford, ME.; grandchildren, JT Figgins, Kiel Figgins, Alexander, Gabrielle and Benjamin Wiggin, Hunter Brown, Mason Lane; 1 great grandchild, Sam Figgins, and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may visit Wednesday Oct. 9, 2019 from 3-7PM at the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main Street, Rochester, NH. The funeral service will be Thursday Oct. 10, 2019 at 11AM in First Church Congregational, UCC, South Main Street, Rochester, NH. A reception will follow in the church’s fellowship hall.
