Mr. Sanford was born in Lumpkin County on October 31, 1950 to the late Earl and Edna Wood Sanford. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Jo Sanford, brother Earl Sanford, sister Earline Hicks, brother-in-law Woodrow Hicks, and sister Thelma Edwards. Mr. Sanford was a retired truck driver. He loved to hunt and fish. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Renee and Joe Dodd, Dahlonega; step-daughters and step-sons-in-law Sherry and James Lackey, Eatonton, Teresa and Rick White, Dahlonega, and Michelle and Robbie Badgley, Dahlonega; step-daughters Janice Pate, Jenkinsburg, and Cindy Woody, Panama City Beach, FL; step-son and step-daughter-in-law Ricky and Cindy Smith, Lula; sister Alma Morgan, Dahlonega; brother Horace Sanford, Dahlonega; and numerous step-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, October 25, 2019 at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Lyman Caldwell and the Rev. Freddy Bryan will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the service hour Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Sanford’s wishes were to be cremated after the service.
