John’s Obituary Let Us Pause To Honor the Memory of Mr. John David Stoner Mr. John David Stoner, age 77, of Hanover, Indiana entered this life on November 5, 1941 in Madison, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Everett A. “Tobe” and Sceneth Dean Stoner. He was raised in Jefferson County and graduated from Saluda High School in 1959. Immediately upon graduation, he served in the U.S. Army until 1963. He was united in marriage to Robertine Cowles on December 6, 1986. He was employed as a construction foreman with Force Construction until he retired. John enjoyed motorcycle riding, collecting guns, attending school auctions, horseback riding, and raising Beagles as hunting dogs. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. John had suffered with the terrible and heartbreaking disease, Lewy Body Dementia and the family made the important decision of donating John’s brain to the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center which plays a key role in advancing the knowledge on the human brain and understanding how it is affected by brain disorders, specifically Lewy Body Dementia. John died on Friday, October 18, 2019, at 6:20 a.m. at the Majestic Care of Sheridan in Sheridan, Indiana. Click Here for Tribute Video A LOVING FAMILY John will be missed by his loving wife, Robertine “Roby” Cowles Stoner of Hanover, Indiana; his sons, Mark Stoner and his wife, Terry of Nolensville, Tennessee, Timothy Stoner and his wife, Tiffany of Zionsville, Indiana; his grandchildren, Saxon Stoner, Evane Stoner, Briggs Stoner, Gage Stoner, Emerson Stoner, Campbell Stoner. His step-daughters, Debbie Schafer and her husband, Ray of Madison, Indiana, Tammy Hamilton and her husband, Glen of Louisville, Kentucky, Jennifer Spann of Madison, Indiana; and their children and grandchildren. His brothers, Kenny “Herkey” Stoner and his wife, Peggy of Hanover, Indiana, Jess Stoner and his wife, Pat of Hanover, Indiana; his sister, Linda Bruther of Hanover, Indiana; his sisters in laws, Joannie Stoner of Hanover, Indiana, Maxine Stoner of Greencastle, Indiana; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Everett A. “Tobe” Stoner died December 28, 1997, his mother, Sceneth Dean Stoner, died December 14, 1998, his father in law and mother in law, Robert Cowles and Mary Cowles, died January 7, 2015, his sister and brother in law, Lou Ann Stoner Fresh, died July 31, 1998 and Kenneth Fresh, died November 12, 2016, his brother, Cyrus Stoner, died June 3, 1988 and Donald “Donnie” Stoner, died September 8, 2010, his brother in law, Dwight Bruther, died August 31, 2019. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 24, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Cemetery near Hanover, Indiana. VISITATION Friends may visit Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
