John Alan Nix, 71, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019 in Arlington. Memorial Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Saturday, October 26, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prairie Paws, Grand Prairie Animal Services, 972-237-8575. As a 1966 graduate of Grand Prairie High School, John attended the University of Texas Arlington to further his education. Ultimately, he worked hard to develop a career in management and sales. Early in life, he lived with a sense of mischief and adventure, loving his freedom to explore (while trying to stay out of trouble). John shared a passion for baseball and softball with his Dad and brother Greg, winning countless trophies over the years. He took great pride in being a responsible hunter and fisherman. He loved the great outdoors. He was a successful gardener, always looking for something new and interesting at local nurseries. Most importantly, he was a devoted family man and loving husband to Jackie for almost 52 years. They have two children, Bryan and Jennifer, who consider him the greatest father one could have. His grandchildren call him PawPaw. He took great pleasure being involved in every aspect of their lives, perhaps one of his greatest joys. PawPaw was an exceptional storyteller, and there were many of them. He was a master conversationalist and never met a stranger. He brought fun and laughter into any room or situation. Always being the jokester, he lifted spirits with his priceless antics. He lived life to the fullest with the highest degree of integrity and selflessness. He was a friendly neighbor with a sense of community. His pets were his passion, and he loved them dearly. Also, his desire for more than an occasional Dr. Pepper can’t be understated. John’s infectious personality and loving spirit will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. We love you forever PawPaw! John is preceded in death by his father and mother, J.C. and Jean Nix. Survivors: He is survived by his wife Jackie; son Bryan Nix, daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Cody Gulley, grandson John Benjamin Gulley, granddaughter Alli Gulley; mother-in-law Billie Jo Rush; sister and brother-in-law Jan and Bob Morris; brother and sister-in-law Greg Nix and Trudy Fedorko; sister Michelle Lyon; many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, a large extended family, and many friends.
