Janice Swanson, age 83, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on Saturday, October 26, after battling a brief but grave illness. She passed away while in Buffalo, NY, following a visit with her grandson and his wife and children. She was a 37 year resident of Orlando, moving there in 1982 from Marlton, NJ. Janice was born in Philadelphia, PA, in 1936, to Mildred and Eugene Pfeffer. She began working at John Wanamaker department store in the office, while still in high school at age 16, and was promoted to supervisor soon afterward. She loved working and was always recognized as a leader in whatever position she held. Her last two positions were at the Orlando Sentinel, for 14 years, where she was a manager in the Circulation Department; and Valencia College, for 11 years, where she worked in Human Resources doing new hire work. She loved her job and worked until she was 79 years old. Janice loved her family and was devoted to them. She and her daughter, Kim, held annual passes to Walt Disney World, where they spent many happy hours together. They loved watching the concerts there together and just enjoying the Disney parks. Janice is survived by her daughter, Kim Adams-Long, of Orlando, Florida. She is also survived by her grandson, Eric Adams and his wife, Nicole Bond Adams, of West Falls, NY, along with her great-grandchildren, Emma (11), Eliza (10), and Winston, (5), of West Falls, NY. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mildred May (Farrand) Pfeffer and Eugene Karl Pfeffer Sr., and her brother, Eugene Karl Pfeffer Jr. Visitation and a celebration of Janice’s life will be held at Collison Family Funeral Home, 3806 Howell Branch Rd, Winter Park, FL 32792. The date and time will be announced shortly.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Janice Swanson October 26 2019.
