James W. “Jim” Johnson, Sr., age 88 of Lake George, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 7, 2019 at the MidMichigan Medical Center of Clare with his family by his side. On October 31, 1930, Jim was born the only son of James and Leona (Butts) Johnson in Summerlee, WV. Jim was united in marriage to Patricia Moll on December 21, 1973 in Walled Lake, MI. Throughout his life, Jim remained loyal to working in the construction industry as a proud member of his Local Carpenter’s Union. In 1993, Jim and Pat decided to relocate from Walled Lake to Lake George where they would enjoy their retirement, and Jim did exactly that. He was very involved in his community, having greatly enjoyed his memberships in the Harrison Temple Church of the Nazarene, the Lake George Boosters Club, and the Harrison Moose Lodge. Jim also loved the outdoors, as an avid fisherman, hunter, and member of the Multi Lakes Conservation Club. Those that knew Jim well, knew that he loved playing cards and fixer upper projects, but most importantly, he loved being with his family. Jim is survived by his wife Patricia of Lake George and his children Kathryn Estel of CA., Carla (Michael) Brown of WY., Jeff (Laurie) Moll of Whitmore Lake, James W. Johnson, Jr. of CA., Cathy (Kevin) Loose of Dearborn Heights, and Jesse Johnson of Lake George. Jim is also survived by his cherished grandchildren including Douglas, David, Jennifer, Angelina, James Estel, James Johnson, Yvette, Joshua, Jason, Jordan, Sarah, Michelle, Megan, Alexandra, Crystal, Holly, and Cody, and his fifteen great-grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his parents James and Leona Johnson, his daughter Angela Hildenbrand, and his granddaughter Shawn. A memorial service in honor of Jim will take place on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the Harrison Temple Church of the Nazarene at 12:00 noon, with Pastor Bill Dyke officiating. Visitation will take place at the church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at noon. Memorial contributions in honor of Jim may be directed toward the Temple Harrison Church of the Nazarene or to the Lake George Boosters Club.
