James “Jim” E. Kimball, age 71 of Onekama passed away on Monday October 21, 2019 at Munson Healthcare – Manistee Hospital, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on June 23, 1948 in Detroit, son of the late Richard and Elizabeth (Emmons) Kimball of Torch Lake. Jim married Carla Lewis on June 17, 1979. They were happily married for over 40 years. Jim and Carla together owned and operated Kimball’s Antique Estate and Appraisal. He was a very creative and artistic man that built many large model ships as well as many other models made from wood and bronze. Jim is survived by his wife, Carla Kimball of Onekama; son, Justin (Erin) Jones of Ohio; daughter, Nicole Jones of Ohio; 2 grandchildren, Cameron and Jayden Jones; sister, Laurie (Rodger) Dean of Grand Rapids; brother, Mike (Lois) Kimball of Las Vegas, NV; and his beloved dogs Maggie and Ballerina. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother John Kimball. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. The family has entrusted funeral arrangements with Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Manistee.
