Howard M. Spellman, 76 of Berkeley, formerly of Rutherford, passed from this life Monday, October 14, 2019. Howard was a loving father, devoted husband and proud grandfather and great grandfather. He served his country in the US Army. He enjoyed playing and coaching baseball. He was very family oriented and enjoyed every opportunity to have his family around him. He enjoyed traveling and trips to Atlantic City. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Howard is predeceased by his parents, George and Genevieve Spellman and his brother, George Spellman Jr. Howard is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Vivien Vicari Spellman; sons, Howard Spellman, Jr., and his wife Dana of West Orange; Eric Spellman and his wife Tina of Mt. Laurel; Brian Spellman and his wife Donna of Branchville; brother, John Spellman of Hasbrouck Heights; 8 grandchildren, Robby Kelly and his wife Tatiana, Joey Kelly, Bryan Kelly and his wife Annie, Christopher Spellman, Katherine-Ann Spellman, Haley Spellman, Timothy Spellman and Julia Spellman and 1 great granddaughter Anastasia Kelly. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd, Toms River, New Jersey. A Mass will be offered at 10:30 am, Friday, October 18, 2019 at St. Maximilian Kolbe, Toms River.
