Hilda Marie Winkler, age 97, of Mt. Juliet, formerly of Dayton, went to be with her Lord early Wednesday morning, October 2, 2019 at her home in Mt. Juliet. She was born on January 7, 1922 in Asheville, NC, the daughter of the late John Wesley and Mittie Ann (Ingle) Holt. Hilda was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Anna Mae Butler and Edith Jenkins. Hilda lived in Dayton from 1965 until moving to Mt. Juliet in 2011. She was a graduate of Biltmore High School at Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. She served as a pastor’s wife at Ogden Road Baptist Church where her husband, Rev. Alan Winkler, was a long-time pastor. Hilda and Alan went to Israel from August to December 1977. She was active in Salem Homemakers where she was a former president one year and also delivered Meals on Wheels. Hilda enjoyed cooking and crafts. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Rev. Alan Winkler of Mt. Juliet; and her two daughters, Connie (Tim) Slocum of Mt. Juliet and Annette (Owen) Egeberg of Scottsburg, IN. Funeral services for Hilda will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in Ogden Road Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Kamer officiating. She will be laid to rest in Ogden Road Baptist Church Cemetery on Dayton Mountain. Please share your memories of Hilda on her online guest register at www.vanderwallfh.com .
