Frank Joseph Wapner, 91, of Springfield, died on October 4, 2019. Frank was born in Springfield on October 7, 1927, to Frank S. and Julia Wapner. He served his country in the Merchant Marines and in the U.S. Navy, 1944-1948. Frank worked hard all his life to support his family. He was a longtime Millwright at Spalding in Chicopee, and had a neighborhood ice cream truck in Springfield’s 16 Acres in the 1970’s. He made his home in Springfield for over 60 years with his beloved wife, Shirley, who predeceased him in 2008. He leaves his children, David (Toni), Glenn, Mark (Leatrice), Gregg (Ellen), Kent (Kathy) and Claudia (Frank Convertino), 12 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. He also leaves a brother, Gene (Carole), and many nieces and nephews. Everyone “knew” Frank. He will be missed. The funeral was private.
