She was born in Irvine, KY, on November 5, 1927, to the late Betty Ann (Arvin) and Cletus Mays. She was a member of God’s Temple in Hamilton, OH. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 52 years, Charles Carter (1998) and her second husband of 13 years, Cleveland Raney (2016); 4 sisters, her twin ~ Alva Collins, Ruth Dowling, Dolly Adams and Dorothy Johnson; her 3 brothers, Hobert, James and Samuel Mays. Elva is survived by her 2 daughters, Elizabeth “Libby” Snider and Wilma (Monty) Barnes; her grandchildren, Rev. Frank (Veronica) Kesling Jr., Rob Borders, Doug Borders, Kristy (Michael) Kraft; 5 great-grandchildren, Charles and Samuel Kesling, Austin Lewis, Brooke Lewis and Alesha Borders; her brother, Robert (Lois) Mays; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. ~ 12 p.m. (2 hours prior to the Service), Saturday October 12, 2019, at the Dalton Funeral Home, where the Funeral Service will follow at 12 p.m., with Pastor Valerie McCann officiating.
