Elizabeth Beatrice Hord June 12, 1932 – October 23, 2019 Elizabeth Beatrice (Bea) Presnell Hord, 87, of Hampstead, NC passed away peacefully in her home Wednesday, October 23, 2019. She was born in Rockingham, NC on June 12, 1932, to the late John Walter Presnell and Edith Beatrice Covington Presnell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Edward Presnell, and sisters, Jewell Presnell Ramsey and Shirley Faye Presnell. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Jack Deleon Hord of the home; daughter, Yolonda H. Johnston (Ricky) of Hampstead, NC; sons, Jack Deleon Hord, Jr. (Lynn) of Loris, SC, Rodney Reid Hord (Pam) of Conway, SC, and Anthony Brian Hord (Wendy) of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Greg Johnston (Kimberly), Brandon Johnston (Michelle), Ryan Johnston (Amber), Evan Hord (Tori), Austin Hord, Emily Hord Farmer (Garth), Nathan Hord, and Madison Hord; great-grandchildren, Brenden, Brylie, Ava, Emma, Blake, and Landon Johnston, and arriving in March, Solomon Rhett Hord. She was a loving wife, mother, “Mema,” and friend to many. She was affectionally known as “Miss Bea.” Bea loved Jesus and served him faithfully for many years, especially in the children’s ministry. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church while in Sumter. They moved to Cherry Grove, SC for several years where they were members of Living Water Baptist Church in Longs, SC, and most recently, Scotts Hill Baptist Church in Wilmington, NC since 2006. As an Air Force wife she called many places home, but the fondest memories are from Sumter, SC where they raised their own children and helped raise many more in her home daycare for over 30 years. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, October 27, 2019, at Scotts Hill Baptist Church at 3:00pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at Sea Lawn Memorial Park in Hampstead, NC. Officiating Pastors, Rev. LeBron Crisp, Rev. Jim Dunn, and Rev. Jimmie Suggs, Jr. Her six grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her amazing caregivers over the last five years. These precious ladies loved on her so well and we are forever grateful. Lower Cape Fear Hospice was a tremendous help in her last weeks.
