Elaine “Lane”‘s Obituary Elaine “Lane” Lillian (Frank) Schock, 76, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at the skilled care unit of Kenmare Community Hospital. Lane was born in Kenmare to George and Lillian (Wallace) Frank on January 9, 1943. She was raised in Coulee and attended grade school there. She graduated from Donnybrook High School in May of 1961. Lane married Dennis Schock on June 25, 1961 in Kenmare. This union was blessed with two sons, Scott and Troy. They lived in Williston and Minot before returning to Kenmare in November of 1967. Lane and Dennis purchased the Kenmare Furniture on October 31, 1972. They owned and operated the store together until it closed on October of 1983. In early 1984, Lane and Dennis leased the lounge and steakhouse from the Kenmare Veterans Club, which they operated until March 1986. Lane then started her own painting and cleaning business, which she ran until her retirement. Lane and Dennis enjoyed traveling together. They spent many summers at their cabin at Lake Metigoshe. Lane loved golfing and playing bingo. She spent many afternoons at the Senior Center playing cards and games with her friends. Lane was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church. She belonged to the Kenmare Country Club and was involved with the Jaycees. Lane lost her husband Dennis on January 31, 2014 and her son Troy on May 11, 2018. Lane’s surviving family includes son Scott, Butte, MT; grandchildren Ayra and Tyler, Meridian, ID; sisters Sharon (Robert) King, Willmar, MN and Cathy Lawson, Donnybrook, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lane was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Troy; sister Karen Seime; and brother-in-law Curtis Lawson. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 11:00 am at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Kenmare. Friends are encouraged to begin gathering at the church an hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan at a later date. Read More
