Dolores Mae Griffin was born December 30, 1929, to Anna Swift Adams and William Adams in Louisville, Kentucky. Dolores entered her eternal resting place September 24, 2019. She was the oldest of nine children. She attended church regularly with her grandmother who was a Minister, which birthed her love of music and the Lord. She began playing the piano at the tender age of six. She could read music and play by ear. Her upbeat spirit could be felt through her musical tunes, especially her rendition of Amazing Grave, which she would add a “Jazzy flair”. Dolores graduated from Central High School in Louisville, KY in 1948. She furthered her education and became a renowned Registered Nurse with an impeccable reputation in the medical field. Her resume extends to most hospitals and nursing homes throughout Allen County. In 1952, she relocated to Fort Wayne, IN where she met the love of her life, Reverend Virgil Griffin Sr. The two were wedded one year later. From that union they were blessed with seven children. They were blessed with 66 years of martial bliss. Despite being a busy wife, nurse, and mother, she never let that interfere with her dedication to her church home and God. She was a member of the Deacons Wives Fellowship, Ministerial Alliance, Sunday School and the Missionary just to name a few. Dolores was a loving and devoted Mother and Grandmother, never missing an event; Graduations, Grandparents Day at the school, sporting events etc. She was always supportive. She leaves to cherish her memory loving husband Reverend Virgil Griffin Sr.; six children, Virgil (Glenda) Griffin Jr., Cynthia (Kim) Stevens, Mark (Deidre) Griffin, Sharon (William) Lewis, Christee Griffin Nuriddin, and Vivian (William) Powers; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Anna Adams; daughter, Linda Rose Griffin; two brothers, Lamont and William Adams.
