Derek’s Obituary Derek Thomas Cone – Loving husband, father and friend, passed away October 8th in Truscott, Texas at the age of 52. He spent his last day doing what he loved – plowing and planting his wheat fields and working his cattle. Derek was born in San Marcos, Texas on February 17, 1967. He is a graduate of San Marcos High School. He then attended the Joint Apprenticeship Training Program where he obtained his Journeyman Certification and Plumbing License. As a member of the Plumber & Pipefitter Local Union 286, he started his own company in 1994 with several friends. They built 5F Mechanical, Inc. into a well-respected business. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting and listening to Texas Country music. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Donna, and two daughters, Chancy Cone Oliver and husband, Wade of Austin; Sabrina Cone and boyfriend, Zack Shepherd of Austin; brother, Clay Cone and wife, Krista, and nephews, Gage and Gunnar of Seguin; father & mother-in-law, Joe and Linda Warner of Leander; mother-in-law, Caryle (Nana) St. John of Hondo and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Cynthia Cone; brother, Greg Cone; cousin, Robbie Posey; Grandparents, Alfred and Regina Lundquist; and Thomas Cone and Virginia Smith. His celebration of life will be an outdoor service “Under the Oaks” on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 3:00 PM followed by a BBQ supper at 757 Allison Road, Martindale, Texas 78655. An additional service will be held the following week on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 2:30 PM in Crowell, Texas at Truscott Brine Lake Army Corps Headquarters 13173 County Road 2631.
