David’s Obituary David J. “Dave” Loughlin, 80, of Easton, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, October 4th, at his residence. David was born in Easton, PA on June 19, 1939, a son of the late Hugh F. and Blanche K. (Adams) Loughlin. On June 22, 1968, he married Nancy (Palmeri) Loughlin at St. Rocco’s Roman Catholic Church in Martins Creek, PA. Dave was a Business Education major at Easton High School, and he graduated with the Class of 1957. He then attended Bloomsburg University where he was a member of the Pi Omega Pi Business Education fraternity and Alpha Psi Omega Drama fraternity. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education, Accounting, and English as a member of the Class of 1961. He continued his education at Rider University where he was a member of the Pi Omega Pi Business fraternity, and he earned a Master of Arts degree in Business Education Administration and Guidance. He went on to earn additional graduate credits at DeSales University, Shenandoah University, and West Chester University. Dave was a Business Education teacher for 43 years in the Easton Area School District. He taught at Easton Junior High School, Shawnee Intermediate School, and Shawnee Middle School. He was the Director of Dramatics (and Producer of nine comedies and 21 Broadway Musicals) with students at Easton Junior High School and Shawnee Intermediate School from 1962 until 1991. Dave enjoyed being the “Voice of First Flags” at the yearly Easton Area High School First Flag Over the United Colonies Band Festival from 1990 until 2017. He loved reading, spending time with his grandchildren, and traveling out of the country to Ireland, Italy, The Panama Canal, Colombia, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Aruba, and Canada. He also enjoyed traveling to places all over the United States like Hawaii, Alaska, Las Vegas, Florida, New England, and California. He was an avid Easton Area High School Red Rover football fan as well as a supporter of various Easton Area High School activities. He also loved watching Bloomsburg University, Penn State University, and Philadelphia Eagles football games. Dave was a member of St. Jane Frances De Chantal Roman Catholic Church in Palmer Township, PA. He was the Vice President and Treasurer of the Easton High School Class of 1957 for a period of time, a life member of the National Education Association and Pennsylvania State Education Association, and also the Founder of the Easton Retired Teachers Breakfast Group which started in 2004 and continues on today. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Nancy; his daughter, Jenna (Loughlin) Schweizer and her husband Craig Schweizer; his son, Sean Loughlin and his wife Pauline Loughlin; 3 grandchildren Caitlyn, Colin, and Jocelyn Loughlin; sisters Jean Luz, and Kathryn Groff and her husband Richard Groff; mother-in-law Helen Palmeri, as well as many nieces, nephews, and 2 grand kitties, Buddy and Keena. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Thursday, October 10th at St. Jane Frances De Chantal Roman Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Ave, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp.). Family and friends are invited to call 5 PM to 7 PM on Wednesday, October 9th at Finegan Funeral Home, 4080 William Penn Hwy, Easton, PA, and also from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM on Thursday, October 10th at the Chapel of St. Jane Frances De Chantal Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be held at Easton Cemetery, Easton, PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to the James J. Palmeri Funeral Home, Martins Creek, PA.
