David was born on August 2, 1953 and transitioned from his earthly home on October 25, 2019 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. David was a resident of Greensboro, having recently relocated from Jacksonville, Florida. He was born in Guilford County to the late David Lewis Florance, Jr. and Rosetta Brandon Florance. David graduated from Page High School in 1971. He attended UNC-Chapel Hill and received a degree in music from UNC-Greensboro, where he met Diane Bryan. To this union was born two sons, Derek and Daryl. David was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Deborah Hughes Florance, his dear aunt Louise Florance Cummings, and his older sister Jacqueline Florance Meadows Dusenbury. He is survived by two sons: Derek Scott Florance and his wife Sheryl, of Kannapolis, N.C. and Daryl Bryan Florance and his wife Shonda, of Greensboro, N.C.; three grandchildren: Damia Simone Florance and Dashaun Bryan Florance, both of Greensboro, N.C., and Jaxon Scott Florance, of Kannapolis, N.C.; three sisters: Ann Florance Huggins and her husband Samuel, of Orangeburg, S.C., Davetta Florance-Bristow, of Greensboro, N.C., and Connye Florance and her husband Kevin Madill, of Nashville, TN; several nieces and nephews: Susan (Myron), Edwin (Rika), Anita (Antonio), Samantha (Mark), Immanuel, Jamett (Josh), Nattale, and Steffani (Chuck); several great-nieces and nephews: Anika, Jaihel, Christian, Vonii, Zoee, and Jillian, and a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial service is planned for Thursday, October 31 at 1 P.M. The service will be at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 607 N. Greene St., Greensboro, N.C. 27401. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
