Obituary Funeral services for Dave Berry, 71 year old Sheridan resident who passed away Tuesday at his home in Sheridan, will be held Monday, October 7th at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Sheridan with Reverend Doug Goodwin officiating. Visitation will be held at the Harness Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday at the church in Sheridan from noon until 1:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with Big Horn Mountain Lodge AF and AM in charge of Masonic graveside services which will immediately follow the funeral. A reception will be held following the graveside at the Kalif Shrine in Sheridan. Donations in Mr. Berry’s memory may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo. Online condolences may be made at www.harnessfuneralhome.com David Everett Berry was born on September 27, 1948 in Sheridan, Wyoming to David L. and Frances E. Berry. He grew up and went to school in Big Horn and graduated from Big Horn High School with the class of 1966. After high school he went to work for the Champion Funeral Home. In 1971 he graduated from the San Francisco School of Mortuary Science and returned to Sheridan to work for Champion Funeral Home. He was married on June 28, 1969 he was married to Karen Baxter and they made their home in Sheridan where they raised their family. Dave was in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years. In the late 1980’s Dave took a job with the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Department where he was a deputy sheriff. He was divorced in December of 1995 and continued living in Sheridan. In that same year he left the Sheriff’s Office and return to work at the Ferries Funeral Home. He later worked again for the Champion Funeral Home. After retiring he continued living in Sheridan until his death. Dave was a member of Big Horn Mountain Lodge #43 AM and AM. And the First Christian Church. He was an avid water skier and enjoyed playing cards, hunting, camping and spending time on the water. He was also an accomplished organist. He is survived by two sons, Ryan Berry and his wife Christine of Denver and Grant Berry and his wife Sandy of Baker City, Oregon; his significant other Cindy Morris; six grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
