Freeland, Michigan Passed away Sunday morning October 27, 2019 at Covenant HealthCare-Cooper in Saginaw after a brief illness at the age of 79 years. Clarice was born March 1, 1940 in Saginaw County to the late Alexander and Marie (Spadt) Roth Sr. Clarice has resided in this area all of her life. Clarice graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1958, was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Freeland. Clarice was very active, being the Past President of Michigan Jaycee Auxiliary (1969-1970), was a member of the Freeland Women’s Study Club, International Women’s Pilots Association, Freeland Community Sports Association Board, she also volunteered for many years at the Covenant Hospital Gift Shop. She also enjoyed being a private pilot and gardening. On June 28, 1958 she married Duane A. Vasold, he survives her. Clarice is also survived by her children; Gregory (Karen) Vasold of Freeland, MI, Kelly (Robert) Stephens of Mason, OH, grandchildren; Bradley (Shelli) Stephens of Cincinnati, OH, Jordan Vasold of St. Charles, Jeffrey Stephens of Cincinnati, OH, Courtney (Michael) Schauman of Freeland, Kristin Stephens of Los Angeles, CA and great granddaughters; Madelyn Joy and Riley Marie. One brother; James (Jean) Roth of South Branch, MI, two sisters; Betty Wamback of Saginaw and Peggy (Art) Weber of Freeland, sisters-in-law; Darlene Roth of Freeland, Louise (Gary) Beck of Ashville, NC, brother-in-law; Robert Wilber of Ovid and many nieces and nephews also survive Clarice. A sister; Dorothy Wilbur, a brother; Alexander Roth Jr., and brothers-in-law; Konrad Wamback and Robert J. Vasold have predeceased Clarice. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 2, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church, Freeland. Rev. Robert G. Schmidt will officiate. Per Clarice’s wishes, cremation has already taken place. Friends may call at the Cunningham/Taylor Funeral Home, 310 E. Washington St., Freeland on Friday from 2:00-8:00 p.m., then at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. In Lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Zion Lutheran Church, Freeland, Saginaw Rescue Mission or the donor’s favorite charity.
