Clara M. Halkins, age 70, died in Coleman at her residence. Her wishes were for her body to be cremated and her family is honoring that request. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Arrangements were made by Stevens Funeral Home, Coleman. She was born Clara May Russell on September 30, 1949, in Fisher County, Texas, a daughter of David A. Russell and Minnia Taylor Russell. She grew up in Denver City where she attended school. Clara lived in Lovington, NM, where she was the manager of an Allsup’s Convenience Store. She later lived in Amarillo for several years before moving to Coleman in 2002. She is survived by two sisters, Donna Parks of Coleman and Ruby Nalen of Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.
