Claire’s Obituary Claire passed away after a brief illness on Sunday evening, October 20, 2019 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading. She was 94 years of age. Born and raised in Belmont, she is the daughter of the late Gaetano and Marie Ann (Lauricella) Barca. Claire attended Belmont Public Schools, graduating from Belmont High School, Class of 1942. Claire moved to Chelsea when she turned 20 and she has been residing in the City ever since. She was a waitress throughout all of her working career and she loved it. She worked in various restaurants over the years but dedicated 20 years at Angelica’s Restaurant in Middleton. Claire was a late member of the Chelsea Senior Center, the Sons of Italy in Belmont/Watertown, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Commission of the Blind in Winthrop. She enjoyed playing cards, attending bingo, dancing and going to the beach. She will be greatly missed by her family and all of the lives she touched while waitressing. Claire was the wife of the William J. Sledzinski, with whom she shared 25 years of marriage. She is the beloved and devoted mother of Joanne Manchur of Brockton, Kathleen McEneny of Chelsea and the late Lawrence L. Riddell, Sr. Dear mother-in-law of Linda Riddell. Claire was predeceased by 5 brothers and 4 sisters. She is also lovingly survived by 2 grandchildren, Lawrence L. Riddell, Jr. and his wife Karen of Wakefield, Brenda Riddell and her husband Ken Goodridge of Rowley, 1 great grandson, Owen Riddell of Wakefield and numerous nieces and nephews. ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral from the Welsh Funeral Home 718 Broadway CHELSEA on Saturday October 26 at 10:30 A.M. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church, 133 Beach St., Revere at 11:30 A.M. Services will conclude with Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
