Charles “Kayo”‘s Obituary Charles “Kayo” Dickey, 74, of Granite City, IL, passed away at Stearns Nsg and Rehab on October 16, 2019 . He was born on September 5, 1945 in Granite City, IL to Orville and Imajean (Broyles) Dickey. Charles grew up in Briscoe until the age of 9. After graduating from the local Granite City high school, Kayo attended several different colleges, earning a Bachelor’s Degree. He worked as a technician at Motorola until his retirement. He was very adventurous, flew private planes and prospected for gold in Alaska, Arizona, Colorado and Australia. Kayo raced cars at Alton Speedway and loved to hunt and fish in Montana . Spending time at auctions was a favorite weekend activity. Ham radios were a fun way for him to communicate with others. He is survived by Lucille Broyles of Troy, John and wife Debbie Broyles of Troy, Robert Broyles of Hawk Point, Steven and wife Lisa Broyles of Troy, his good friend Cathie Cassy of Granite City, IL and many nieces, nephews, relatives and other friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents.
