C. J.’s Obituary J. Cheatham Clarence James “C. J.” Cheatham, age 92, of Texarkana, Arkansas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 25, 2019. Mr. Cheatham was born August 6, 1927 in Village, Arkansas. He was a retired accountant with Tosco Corporation and an ordained minister. Bro. Cheatham served in churches from Magnolia, Arkansas to El Dorado, Arkansas and the surrounding area. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served his country during World War II. C. J. was a faithful prayer warrior and always willing to give a word of comfort and encouragement to his family and friends. He had a servant’s heart and would always greet you with a friendly smile, a kind word, a handshake, and a lighthearted joke. He was preceded in death by his father Clarence Justice Cheatham, mother Annie Cheatham, one brother Jack Cheatham, and three sisters Marie Whiddon, Hazel Dempsey, and Carla Jean Crisp. He is survived by his loving wife of seventy years, Eva Lena Cheatham of Texarkana, Arkansas; one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Teresa Cheatham of Texarkana, Arkansas; two daughters and one son-in-law, Tina Cheatham of Texarkana, Texas; Marcy and James Emerson of Cold Springs, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Lynsi Fletcher and her husband Drew, Kevin Lance Cheatham and his wife Rachel and Laurel Emerson, three great grandchildren, Henry Fletcher, J. R. Cheatham and Ezra Fletcher and a host of friends and other relatives. A celebration of Mr. Cheatham’s life will be 10:00 A. M. Monday, October 28, 2019 at Central Baptist Church with Rev. David Watkins and Rev. Phillip Dunn officiating. Burial will be in Stephens Cemetery in Stephens, Arkansas under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas.
