Sunday October 13th 2019
Beverly Sue Taylor March 29, 1939 – October 13, 2019 Beverly was born in Elnora, Indiana on March 29, 1939 to Edward & Fern Bechtel. She was the eighth child of eleven kids. Many family members simply referred to her as “Sue”. She grew up on a hard working farm in Daviess County and always said that she learned to drive the tractor so that she didn’t have to pick the corn. She played the French horn in band and earned the nickname “Boots” because of the little white boots she wore as drum majorette. She was particularly proud of being a Page in Indiana State House in High School and being able to stay with her aunt and uncle in the big city of Indianapolis. Beverly worked at Naval Surface Warfare Center – Crane Division for many years. During the hard time when she became a single mother to three teenage children, she worked multiple jobs to provide for her family. She worked two jobs at a time and even found time to go back to school and take college classes to better her life, but mostly to be able to give her three children the best life that she could. After some college course work, she worked at Indiana University for 20 years in the Financial Management Services – Accounts Payable department. She made many life long friends in her department at IU. She retired from Indiana University in 2006. In her retirement years she loved following sports, especially the Chicago Cubs, Indianapolis Colts, & Indiana Pacers. There wasn’t a day go by that she was not watching a game on television or cussing because she couldn’t get the game on television. She loved to spend time with her sisters and travel when she could. The most important things in her life were her children, grand-daughters, and great-grandsons. Beverly was a 53 year member of Eastern Star – Stanford Indiana Chapter. She was a member of First United Methodist Church since 2009, and a uterine cancer survivor. She is survived by daughter Debby Clues, son-in-law Sam Clues both of Wimauma, Florida, son Donny Taylor, daughter-in-law Kathleen Taylor of Columbia, Tennessee, son David Taylor and honorary son Shawn Wilson both of Bloomington, grand-daughter Lauren Taylor & J.T.
