Obituary for Betty Lou Beamer Pruitt CHATHAM, Betty Lou Beamer Pruitt, age 87, of Chatham, VA, entered into rest on October 20, 2019 at Chatham Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on November 11, 1931, in Mt. Airy, the daughter of the late Clifford Beamer and the late Ora Thompson Beamer. She was married to the late Lester Elton Pruitt. She was a member of Chatham Presbyterian Church. She and her husband Elton owned and operated the Western Auto in Chatham for many years. She loved people, cats, cooking and especially Christmas. She is survived by a sister, Jackie Beamer; a sister-in-law, Betty Sue Pruitt; a nephew, John Pruitt; and two nieces, Elizabeth (Barry) Creasy and Sandi Franklin. Funeral services will be conducted at Scott Funeral Home on Tuesday October 22, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Mikel D. Pugh officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Scott Funeral Home on Tuesday October 22, 2019 from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm.
