Barbara Joan Roberts, 80, of Bloomington, Indiana passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at her residence. She was born on February 13, 1939 in Heltonville, Indiana; the daughter of Eithel and Sylvia Smith. Barbara was a member of New Horizon Church. She worked for MCCSC before retiring in 1996. She enjoyed crocheting, drawling, listening to music and singing along, and spending time with her family and friends. Barbara is survived by her children, Bruce Roberts, Dana Reynolds (Billy), Anthony Roberts (Jill), and Tommy Chasteen (Pat). She loved her grandchildren, Chantel Charteen (Shayne), Tommy Bowlen (Amanda), Thurston Reynolds, Whitney King (Mitch), Tyler Bowlen, Brandon Roberts (Kelsey), McKayla Reynolds, and Noah Roberts; her precious great-grandchildren, Elane McElhinney, Libby McElhinny, Jackson King, Brealynn Roberts, Brynlee Roberts, Ali King, Evelyn Bowlen and Issac Bowlen. Barbara is also survived by her brother, Tom Smith (Vicki) and sisters, Nancy Hartman (Larry) Rose Sowders, Margaret Hollars, Debbie Harrington, and Teresa Ping (Jeff). She was preceded in death by her parents, her 1st husband, Thomas Bowlen; husband, Dale E. Roberts; son, Marty Bowlen, great-grandson, Cooper Bowlen; and great-granddaughter, Crista Johnson. Our mother was loving and kind, and she will be missed by everyone who knew her. She never knew a stranger and was always there for us. We love you Mom, Always. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home and Crematory, 4155 S. Old State Road 37, Bloomington with Pastor Richard Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 6, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
