Barbara Ann Batteiger of St. James, Missouri passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at the age of 74. Barbara was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 17, 1945 to the late Richard, and Mina (Smith) Steiner. Miss Barbara Steiner was united in marriage to Mr. Wayne Betteiger on June 6, 1973, this union was shared with his three children. Barbara spent her entire career teaching school, she was devoted to education, as was a favored teacher by her students. She enjoyed doing crafts, especially needlework. She had made many cross stitch ornaments that are amazing. She also enjoyed reading and owns hundreds of paper backs, and books in a digital format. She loved to cook, and she was an exceptional cook, everyone was excited when they were invited to a meal at Barbs. Besides spending time with her family and friends, Barbara really loved spending time with her best friend “Max”, a two year old West Highland Terrier. Barbara Ann Batteiger is survived by her step-children, Caryl Meier and husband Arthur, of Pacific, MO, and James Batteiger, of Florissant, MO; Brother, David Steiner, of Boston, MA; sister, Nancy Wilkatis and husband Jerry, of Lake St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Jason, Nicholas, and Brett Meier; great-grandchildren, Avery, Trenton, Dilyn, and Sawyer Meier; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. In addition to her parents Richard and Mina Steiner, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Wayne in 1985; step-son, Wayne Michael Batteiger in 2000. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary. Visitation will be at the Chapel prior to the service from 12:30PM until service time. Internment will be at the St. James Cemetery where Barbara will be laid to rest beside her husband Wayne.
