Usher, formerly of Holyoke passed away at his home on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at the age of 81. He was born in Royal Oak Township (Hazel Park), MI on December 17, 1937 a son of the late Graham and Clara (Smith) Usher. Art was educated in Michigan and came to settle in this area with his enlistment in the U.S. Air Force and being stationed at Westover, AFB. He served honorably as an air policeman in Chicopee and in Greenland where one of his roles was to guard the famous B-52 Stratofortress fleet. He worked for many years at Tighe and Bond as a surveyor and later as an inspector making many longtime friends with area contractors and neighbors along the construction routes. Art enjoyed watching sports, especially his children and was proud of all the accomplishments they had made in life. He was a devoted Tigers and Michigan Fan but had a natural love of the games no matter who was playing. He was the travel coordinator for the Agawam Senior Center for several years and enjoyed traveling with his wife of 34 years, Rosemarie Ingrassia Usher of West Springfield whom he leaves behind. Art is survived by his four children, Lynn Usher of Holyoke; Arthur Usher (Nancy) of Holyoke; David Usher (Michelle) of Westfield, Michael Usher (Cyndi) of Wilbraham and by his sister, Shirley Ludwin of CA. Art will be missed dearly by his 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was also predeceased by his three brothers: Bob, Ronnie and Leo Usher. He leaves 3 stepdaughters, most especially Elena Scott and her husband “Scotty”. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, November 4, 2019 from 4-7PM at Curran-O’Brien Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St., South Hadley, MA 01075 with a funeral home service at 6:30PM. The Rite of Committal with military honor will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 2PM in the chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam, MA 01001.
