Arnold’s Obituary Arnold Adair PRICE-Arnold Raymond Adair, 77, passed away October 21st, 2019 at home peacefully in his sleep after a wonderful evening with family. Arnold was born June 7, 1942 to Mary Lela (Taylor) Adair and Arnie C Adair in Price, Utah. He was the youngest boy in the family with 7 siblings. Arnold was 8 days old before he was named, for those first 8 days he was known as Sugar Pie. Arnold lived in Paradox, CO until he was about 11, he loved telling stories about his childhood there. Then his mother and father moved the family back to Price where Arnold got his first job at the age of 13 on a ranch in 9 Mile. At the age of 16, he started working at Nutter Ranch for Virginia Nutter in 9 Mile. In the book The Split Sky written by Tom McCourt you can read about some of Arnold’s adventures on the Nutter Ranch. From his wild cahoots with is best friend and brother in law to some of his most valuable life lessons Arnold always bragged and loved his memories from working in 9 Mile. When Arnold was 22, he was working on the oil rigs out in Mounds. When he came to town to go dancing and race cars he met the love of his life and best friend Jackie Rose Donathan, the day after Thanksgiving in 1964. He caught her attention by offering her a piece of licorice. They were married February 13, 1965 in Helper. Two days later the couple moved to California. From then on there life adventures took off with his consistent teasing Jackie and their many many card games. Arnold and Jackie have four children and their lives evolved around their family and all their neighborhood “adopted” kids. Taking them to rodeo’s, working cows and sometimes just having a good old-fashioned egg fight at home, Arnold always cherished every moment with his wife and kids. Through life all of the kids, nieces, nephews, grandkids and great-grandkids always went to Papa for advice on everything. Arnold started in the coal mines in 1972 and retired from Cyprus Plateau in 2000 at the age of 59. He was a very skilled surface mechanic and respected by all co-workers. Arnold and one other guy completely rebuilt the load out at Willow Creek, and for 5 months they were the only ones on site. Arnold was an exceptionally handy man to have around, he thought everything through and could plan out a fix for anything. He was very knowledgeable about running cattle, training horses and keeping the kids in line. Arnold loved his family dearly and was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation. Arnold is survived by his loving wife, Jackie Rose Adair, his loyal Chihuahua “Baby Girl”; his 4 children, Steve (Dawn) Manzanares of Price, Jeana Bo (Dale) Wells of Price, Neal (Michelle (Deceased)) Adair of Price and Rose Mary (Chris) Adair-Davis of Wellington; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bo Ann (Frank) Kontas of Marysville, Washington, Bob (Kathy) Donathan of Price, Ruby (Phil) Stilson of Tucson, Arizona, Elizabeth (Bill) Stovall Amarillo, Texas, Colleen (Jerald (Deceased)) Adair, brother-in-law/best friend, Leon (Sharon) Rich; 13 mischievous grandchildren, 14 blessed great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles, all his siblings, daughter-in-law Michelle, daughter-in- law Kena, and brother-in-law Richard Donathan (Vietnam) “You have your angel wings, fly high.” Your wife Jackie Funeral service Saturday, October 26, 2019, 1:00 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home.
