On August 30, 2019, William (Bill) Ottinger, 65, passed away peacefully at his home, following his courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born in Mannington, NJ on July 6, 1954. He grew up in Penns Grove where he made many lifelong friendships. He graduated from Penns Grove High School in 1973. He married Karen, the love of his life, on August 8, 1981. Together, they enjoyed life and raised a family in Pennsville, NJ. Bill was a kind, patient, easy going man who was loved by all who knew him. He enjoyed the simple things in life like family, music, “tinkering” in his garage, working on cars, going to car shows, and playing with his drones. He was like a big kid with a great sense of humor. He was always there when you needed him, and always willing to lend a hand. He could fix anything he took apart with just a few spare bolts left over. Many memories were made camping, boating, and crabbing with his family. He enjoyed just hanging out with his friends and family drinking Coors Lite or testing different recipes for Martinis or Manhattans. In 2010, he retired from DuPont Chambers Works where he worked for 35 years. During his retirement he continued to spend his time doing the things he loved with friends who were like family and family that were his best friends. He is survived by his wife Karen, of 38 years; his daughters Andrea Hern (Doug), Karen Keeley (Brian), and Dawn Myers (Buddy); grandchildren Dylan (Savannah), Stormy, Cade, Kaylee, Emma, Griffin, and Grady; and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings (whom he loved dearly) Courtland Jr. (Leslie), Eleanor (Jerry), Shelly (Bill), Catherine (Steve) and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Courtland Ottinger, mother Ada Long, stepfather Rupert Long, brother-in-law Allen Gamber and his beloved dog Taz. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, from 6-8pm at the Ashcraft Funeral Home at 740 S. Broadway, Pennsville, NJ 08070.
