Velia Francesca Melzer, 60 of Brooklyn, NY and formerly of Stamford, CT. passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 3, 2019. Born Friday, January 23, 1959 in Brooklyn, New York, Fran was the daughter of the late Frank Crocamo and the late Anna D’Urso Crocamo. She was the wife of the late Mark J. Melzer Esq.. Fran as everyone knew her was born and raised in Brooklyn, she obtained her Master’s Degree in Special Education. and was a former Special Education Teacher at the Gingerbread School, Fran devoted her life to enriching the lives of children. Fran adored her mother, the late Anna, and treasured the years she cared for her while Anna suffered and finally succumbed to Dementia. Fran was a devoted aunt to her many nieces and nephews particularly the older ones. She helped shape their lives in the arts as well as challenge their intellect, as the teacher in her would encourage. Loving sister of Marie Prato, Alba DePersia , Angela Nasti, Nina LaRocca, and the late Ralph Crocamo and Dora Crocamo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:45 AM on Saturday at St Clare Church located at 110 Nelson Ave Staten Island, New York 10308. Private Cremation will follow. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday, September 6, 2019, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10312. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
