Shirley M. Martz, 86, of Berwick passed away Thursday September 12, 2019 at Berwick Retirement Village II. She was born June 7, 1933 in Berwick, a daughter of the late Herbert and Florence (Knorr) Nuss. She attended Berwick Area Schools and enjoyed watching children in her home. Shirley enjoyed quilting, country western music, and watching her kids and grandchildren play baseball. Shirley made the best macaroni and cheese. Shirley was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and most recently United Church of Christ of Nescopeck. Shirley is survived by three children; James F. Martz wife Mary Kay of Strasburg, PA, William R. Martz Jr. wife Pamela of Berwick, Debra Bucci husband Augie of Pembroke Pines, FL, two grandchildren; Sarah Short, Benjamin Martz, great-grandson Jonathan McGuire, and brother Guy Nuss and wife Jean of Mt. Dora, Fl. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband William R. Martz Sr., who passed away November 14, 2002, and grandson Jonathan Martz, who passed away February 28, 2003. Services will be Tuesday September 17, 2019 at 11:00 am at the James L. Hinckley Jr. Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 1024 Market St., Berwick. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
