Radames’ Obituary Radames “Mike” Villafane, 83, of Brick, NJ, passed away Sunday night, August 25, 2019. Mike was a loving son, caring brother, amusing uncle, beloved father, and devoted husband as well as a Vietnam War and retired Air Force Veteran. Mike was born in Lares, Puerto Rico and lived in New York with his family as a teenager until joining the U.S. Air Force. While stationed in Germany he met his wife Elfriede. They traveled around Europe and the United States before retiring from the military and settling in New Jersey. Mike then became a prosperous insurance Sales Manager, then a successful business owner before finally retiring from Agway Energy Services. He enjoyed the game of baseball, especially his favorite team The NY Yankees. Mike was an avid bowler and liked to play softball and bocci ball. Music was one of his passions and he loved playing guitar and congas. One of his favorite hobbies was the online, Latin jazz, radio station he created and D-J’ed. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family. Mike is predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Elfriede Villafane in 2011. Surviving are his sister, Gladys Ouge; his four children: son, Frank Villafane (Rose Rios), daughter, Rosemarie “Mimi” Villafane, son, Radames Villafane Jr. and wife, Vicki, daughter, Michelle V. Honauer and husband, Joseph Honauer. His seven grandchildren: Theresa V. Roman and husband, Victor Roman, Jeremy Villafane and wife, Emily, Michael Villafane, Krystal Walters and husband, Jason, Kyle Thompson and wife, Haliegh, Amanda Villafane, and Sebastien Honauer as well as Mike’s six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Monday, September 9, 2019, 9:30 a.m. at Cross Point Baptist Church, 462 Squankum Yellowbrook Road, Farmingdale, NJ. Interment will follow the service at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ at 11:30 AM. Cremation will be private.
