Myron “Mighty” J. Akey, 77, Dorchester, died Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born July 30, 1941, in Mosinee, the son of the late Leonard and Amy (Truax) Akey. He married Pearl Borchardt on Nov. 26, 1960, in Mosinee. She died March 10, 2001. Mighty was a hard worker and always made sure his family was provided for. He was a jack of all trades but was mostly a carpenter for his trade. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing with his brothers and nephews. He made a few excursions out west to hunt the big game and a couple trips to Canada for fishing. Along with playing a few hands of sheepshead, you could find him with a can of beer and a shot of brandy-listening to classic country or polkas for entertainment. He will be greatly missed but is happily rejoined with the love of his life, Pearl. Survivors include two daughters, Michelle Stewart and Lisa (Tammy) Rajek, Mosinee; his grandchildren, Bobbie Jo, Christopher, Dana, Angela and Erica; a brother, Richard “Dick” Akey, Marshfield; and sister, Doralin Nechuta, Mosinee; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Leonard Jr., Robert “Howard” and Marvin, and a granddaughter, Candace. Per Myron’s request, no services will be held.
