Murald G. Zarbok, age 89, of Alexandria, died on Monday, September 23, 2019, at his home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 28, 2109, at East Moe Church in Garfield with Rev. Saul Stensvaag officiating. Interment will take place at the church cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Minnesota Honor Guard, American Legion Post #87, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #936, Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter #235, and the Marine Corps League Detachment #1409. Visitation is 4-7 p.m., Friday at Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Murald Gordon was born on August 29, 1930, to Herman and Etta (Kluver) Zarbok in Alexandria. He grew up in the Alexandria area on the family farm, was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended school in Alexandria. He graduated from Central High School. He was united in marriage to Arlyne Bolstad on October 26, 1951, at East Moe Lutheran Church. Shortly after their marriage, Murald enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and they were stationed in California. He was honorably discharged in 1953, at which time they returned to the Twin Cities and he began his career as a carpenter until 1973. They moved to a farm in Garfield where he continued his carpentry as well as farming. Following their retirement in the early 1980’s, they moved to the Carlos area and spent winters in Arizona. In 2015, they moved into Alexandria where they made their home. Murald was an avid fisherman, enjoyed deer hunting, golfing, and traveling. He loved music, playing cards and billiards. Murald was a member of East Moe Church, the Carpenter’s Union and Marine Corp Detachment. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Etta; and brother, Roger “Butch”. Murald is survived by his wife of 67 years, Arlyne; two sons, Randy (Debbie) Zarbok of Garfield and Todd (Jan) Zarbok of Alexandria; daughter, Penny (Chris) Kauffman of Hanover; two brothers Lee (Priscilla) and Bill (Jan); sister, Marlys; nine grandchildren, Andy (Gina), Nathan (Britta), Brent (Sarah), Jamie, Allen, Tyler (Cassie), Lindsey, Kyle and Carly; 14 great-grandchildren with one on the way; along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Pallbearers are his grandsons, Andy, Nathan, Brent, Allen, Tyler and Kyle. Honorary pallbearers are his granddaughters, Jamie, Lindsey and Carly.
