Mr. Melvin Durell Forehand, 76 of Raytown Rd., Crawfordville, Ga. entered into rest on Friday, September 27, 2019 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at 3 PM at Raytown Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Sharon United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday in the church sanctuary beginning at 2 PM until the hour of the service. At Mr. Forehand’s request, for everyone including pallbearers and honorary pallbearers, dress will be casual. Mr. Forehand, son of the late Ernest Carl and Nora Johnson Forehand, was a native of Nashville, Ga. He was a superintendent for Meadows Construction Company for over 30 years and oversaw the construction of many wastewater treatment facilities throughout Georgia and Florida. Mr. Forehand purchased property in Raytown in the late 80s. Shortly thereafter, he and his wife, Patsy, built a beautiful country home on the property with their own hands. No doubt, his family was his heart but the Raytown community was very special to him. He was well loved and respected as well as being known as someone you could count on if you needed anything but especially a good laugh. Friends were always weary of shaking his hand due to his enjoying giving them a little shock with a hand buzzer he liked to carry around. He enjoyed raising catfish in his pond and cooking them up for an annual community fish fry at his home. Melvin “Big Man” Forehand was an avid fan of bluegrass and traditional country music and enjoyed traveling to different music festivals to see entertainers such as Little Roy Lewis, Lizzy Long, Rhonda Vincent, and the Malpass Brothers. He was a faithful member and diligent worker at Raytown Baptist Church. Recycled/Recyclable Paper He is survived by his wife, Patsy Barnett Forehand; and his pride and joy – his two daughters, Melanie Forehand of Crawfordville and Dina Forehand of Chamblee. Mr. Forehand had a very special grandson, Tyson Durell Forehand, who was his inspiration throughout his illness. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Forehand requested donations be made to Raytown Baptist Church. Beggs Funeral Home, 200 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga is honored to serve the family of Mr. Melvin Durell Forehand.
