Mechelle Larthell Newsom passed away at 47 years old on August 31, 2019, at University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. Mechelle was the beloved girlfriend of Mario Fuentes who shared many loving years with her. Mechelle was born in Berkeley, CA. She was the daughter of Bobby Newsom and her heavenly mother Gwendolyn Wesson. Mechelle was a very strong individual who fought her illness to the end. Every person who came across her path was touched by her presence. She had a very optimistic personality and saw the brighter side of every situation. Mechelle would not want us to morn her death but rather celebrate her life. She is survived by Uncle Clyde Wesson and Aunts Evelyn Wesson and Geraldine Spencer. As well as partner, Mario Fuentes and children Tafliah Dupree, Shanya Dupree, Dynesha Boyce-Lucas, Na’kya Newsom- Spencer. In addition, she also leaves behind a granddaughter, Taylor Alynn Dupree. Mechelle has an extended line of cousins and other family and friends that she loved very much including her beloved dog, Buddy. Mechelle was proceeded in death by mother, Gwendolyn Wesson and son, Marcus Dupree as well as grandmother, Eddie Mae Wesson. Mechelle’s tribute was written in her honor by her loving family.
