Mary’s Obituary Mary L. Jefferson was born April 17, 1943 in Crenshaw, MS to the parents of the late Mrs. Mamie Smith Roberson and Mr. Eli Smith. Mary moved to Chicago in 1960 with her husband, the late Sam H. Jefferson Jr. Mary was a member of Lawndale Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board. She worked at Lowery Electronics for 20 years and Concord Nursing Home. She was affectionately called Mrs. Mary by all that knew her. Mrs. Mary is preceded in death by: Raynard Jefferson (son); Jeffery Jones (son-in-law), and Bridgett Jefferson (daughter-in-law). Mary leaves behind three sisters and one brother, Georgia Anderson, Edith R. Hugghis (Hue), Lillie R. Hackney (Robert) and Milton R. Roberson Jr. Mary also leaves to cherish her memories: Two children, Angie M. Townsend Jones and Sammie T. Jefferson; her lifelong partner of 39 years, Jessie Smith Sr; three bonus daughters, Diane Smith, Michelle Smith and Tian Smith; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
