Mary’s Obituary All services are private Mary Jane Hicks “Janie”, age 85, entered Heaven’s Gates on Friday, September 20, 2019. She was born to the late Elsie Faye Marshall and Joseph A. Marshall of Enid, OK on April 5, 1934. Janie was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Elmer Lee Hicks. At the age of 16, Janie married Elmer and became a supportive military wife. They were constant loving companions through their entire 59-year marriage. A loving mother and homemaker, Janie was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially over the holidays. She was always involved in her daughters’ lives while growing up teaching them how to be strong, independent women. She enjoyed concerts, sports, gardening, reading, and had a lifelong love of cats. Janie is survived by her two daughters, three grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and a number of close friends. Janie requested for an intimate burial and funeral as her husband Elmer received. The two of them will be together at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, Maryland. The family wishes to thank all of those who prayed for her during her last days. A service will be provided on September 27, 2019, at 11:30 am in Crownsville at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD. Read More
