Marie Frances Siligato Gilbert, age 79, of Johnstown, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 19, 1939 in Amsterdam to Benjamin and Mary Tricomi Siligato. Marie was a Class of 1958 graduate of Johnstown High School. She was employed for many years at Lexington Center. Mrs. Gilbert was of the Catholic faith, a communicant of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Gloversville. Marie enjoyed knitting and craftwork. Marie is survived by her husband Fred W. Gilbert whom she married on November 10, 1995, one brother Carl P. Siligato, one sister Frances A. Siligato Male (David); seven nieces Jamie M. Connolly (Matthew), Breanna Connolly, MaryKathryn Swart, Amanda Blackwood (Lance), Mackenzie Wilson (Andrew), Averi Wilson and Karla Pangburn (David); eight nephews Ryan Connolly, Gabriel Blackwood, Zeke Wilson, Jarrett Albanese, Paul Siligato (Michelle), Drew Pangburn, Kaden Pangburn and Steven Gilbert (Kathy) and legal guardian to Sandra LaRose of Lexington. Mrs. Gilbert was also predeceased by one sister-in-law Sara Siligato. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, September 20, 2019 at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 149 S. Main Street, Gloversville. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown immediately following the Mass. Contributions in Marie’s memory may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, New York 12078.
