Obituary of Marian Ella Playford Marian Ella Rose Playford, 79, of Fairmont Ave, Amsterdam, passed away unexpectedly Thursday September 19, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam. Born in St. Johnsville, NY on December 22, 1939 a daughter of the late John James and Dorothy Emma Thompson Rose. She was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and attended Amsterdam schools. Marian was employed as a waitress at the former Community Pharmacy in Amsterdam. She also worked in Cafeteria Services with the Greater Amsterdam School District at Marie Curie, Tecler and Amsterdam High School. She also worked for a time as a prep-cook at the Amsterdam Muni Golf Course. Marian enjoyed staying in various campgrounds with her husband and family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her. She married Walter L. Playford on his birthday, August 14, 1960. He passed away on August 30, 2006. Survivors include her loving son, Walter L. Playford Jr. and his wife Suzanne of Amsterdam and her loving daughter, Linda D. Ryder and her husband David of Broadalbin. Two grandchildren, Carlee and Jessica Ryder and two great-grandchildren, Giovanni and Kameron. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday September 24, 2019 at 11:00A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with the Rev. Dr. John Califano presiding. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery , Amsterdam . The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday September 23, 2019 from 4:00-7:00P.M. at the funeral home.
