IACOBELLI, Margaret “Peggy” (nee Vander Does) of Whiting, NJ, peacefully departed this life on Friday, September 20, 2019 when her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, called her to her eternal home. Born in 1925, and raised in Hawthorne, NJ, “Peggy” graduated from Roosevelt Grammar School and Hawthorne High School before attending nursing school at Orange Memorial Hospital as part of the U.S. Army Cadet Nurse Corps training program for World War II, graduating in 1946. Peggy worked as a nurse at Barnert Memorial Hospital in Paterson, Van Dyk Nursing and Convalescent Center, in Ridgewood, and was promoted to Director of Nurses at Van Dyk Manor in Montclair. After 25 years of nursing service and retiring from Van Dyk Manor, she moved to Manchester Township, NJ, and returned to nursing at Green Acres and Holiday Care Center before retiring again at age 70. In 1951, Peggy married Joseph Iacobelli and, together, they parented two daughters, Nancy and Susan, residing and raising their family in Hawthorne. Peggy was active in Junior Women’s Club, Rae Avenue Reformed Church, and Hawthorne Gospel Church. She taught Sunday School and served as a leader in Pioneer Girls. In retirement, Peggy was active in the community at The Pines, serving on the Welcome Committee, the Chaplain Committee, the Safety Committee, and managing the greeting cards section of the Gift Shop. In Manchester, she was an active participant at First Baptist Church, Toms River, until her move to The Pines when she started attending Whiting Bible Church. Peggy was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Ethel Vander Does, her husband, Joseph Iacobelli (2004) and sister Nila Peterson (2018). She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Allen) Penton, of Stone Mountain, GA, and Susan (Peter) Cruickshank, of Toms River, NJ; grandsons Marshall Penton (Jennifer) of Ohio, Joshua Penton (Sarah Beth) of Georgia, and Daniel (Margaret) of Florida; and great-grandchildren Lydia, Naomi, Samuel, Emily, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Bethany, and Joanna; brother Adrian Vander Does, and nieces and nephews. Arrangements are provided by Carmona-Bolen of Whiting, NJ. Private interment was arranged at the BG Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. A memorial service is scheduled at The Pines Senior Living 509 Route 530 in Whiting, NJ on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 10:00am.
