Reba May Williams (Maizie) nee LeStourgeon, 92, of Monroeville, passed away September 18, 2019 at her home in Monroeville. Born in Mullica Hill, she was the daughter of the late Wesley R. and Reba D. (Rainas) LeStourgeon. Maizie was a life-long resident of the Monroeville/Upper Pittsgrove area, where she attended the local grammar school and graduated from Woodstown High School in 1944. Married to Howard L. Williams of Westville on June 19,1948 she assisted her husband with their retail store Country Supply, while raising her family. Later she worked at Elmer Community Hospital in the Admissions Department and subsequently at H&R Block for several years. Maizie always enjoyed volunteering as an officer and committee member for the Monroeville Home and School Association, which later became the Upper Pittsgrove PTA, where she was active with their annual Oyster Dinner and the Strawberry Festival. She served as a Den Mother for Cub Scout Troop #239. In 1981 she became a charter member of the Elmer Hospital (now Inspira Medical Center/Elmer) Volunteers and a member of the coordinating committee. In 1990 she became a Hospice of Salem County Volunteer, as well as a volunteer for the Red Cross, a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, and the North Shore Yankee Division Auxiliary. Among her awards and honors she received a Service Award from the Salem County Board of Freeholders in 1988, the Elmer Grange Community Person of the Year in 1989, the 2000 Legion of Honor Award given by the Marines from the Chapel of Four Chaplains at the Guardian of the Sea Chapel in Cape May. In 2004 she received the Salem County Commission on Women Achievement Award. The Presidents Call to Service Award was presented to her in 2005. After 32 Years with South Jersey Hospital/Elmer and Inspira Medical Center she had completed over 11,000 hours of volunteering. In addition to her community service, she spent many hours as a “caregiver” to her family and friends. Maizie was a member of the Elmer Presbyterian Church where she had served as a Deacon and was also active in the Women’s Association. Her husband Howard predeceased her in 2015. She is survived by her two sons, Howard Wesley and his wife Barbara J. of Monroeville, Edward L. of Monroeville, and a daughter Margo D. Crawford and her husband Michael J. of Monroeville; four grandchildren, Dawn Amy Lewis and her husband Lance of Elmer, Howard (H.R.) of Monroeville, Marsha E. Crawford and her partner Ryan Lange of Jacksonville, FL, and Michael R. Crawford of Rockport, MA; two great-grandchildren, Rene Williams and Kyra Ilacqua and her husband Benjamin of Alloway; and two great-great grandchildren Josephine Williams and Jaxon Ilacqua. Services will be held on Monday, September 23, 2019 at Adams Funeral Home, 111 S. Main Street, Elmer, NJ 08318. There will be a visitation from 10 AM to 12 PM with the funeral service at 12 PM. Burial will be at Chestnut Grove Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the Elmer Presbyterian Church.
