Lonnie enjoyed his last full day on earth celebrating with his family, watching football and enjoying the company of family and friends. He passed away on September 9, 2019 with many family members and friends present. Lonnie was born November 2, 1957. Son of Duane and Judy Jenkins; Brother to Don, Wayne, Dave, Joe, Jeff, Theresa and Karen; Husband to Arlene Jenkins; Father of Jenny (Jim) Ayotte, Julie (Matt) Eaton and Lonnie (Jessyca) Jenkins, Jr; Son-in-law to Berneice Shepherd; and Grandfather to Andrew, Madisen, and Nathan Eaton, Isabel, Landon and Avery Jenkins. He was a proud “Papa” and dearly loved by his grandchildren, family and many dear friends. Lonnie’s life was also celebrated with many brothers and sisters-in-law. He was a dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. Described by most as “one-of-kind”, the grief from his passing is being felt by not only his family but countless close friends, as well. Lonnie was preceded in death by his mother, Judy Jenkins; His brother, Jeff Jenkins; and his son-in-law, Jim Ayotte. Over the past few days, Lonnie is being remembered by family and friends. As the family shares stories and memories, he is described as being the “rock” of the family. He is known for his spirited laugh and his unique sense of humor. Lonnie has been described as always having a story to tell and is noted for giving nicknames to those around him. His children remember that their home was the place that all their childhood friends wanted to go because it was the fun place to be. Lonnie took pride in being a business owner. He enjoyed his home and property where countless events and gatherings where hosted. It is doubtful that anyone ever left his home hungry or thirsty. He is remembered as a generous host who welcomed company of both family and friends. Lonnie spent many hours enjoying his deck over looking his pond where he would visit with family, watch sports or listen to music or watch the frogs being friendly. Lonnie was self- described as having a heart of gold and having a ninth grade education with a Harvard brain. Undoubtedly his biggest sense of pride was his family. He will be dearly missed. Arrangements are being handled by Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home in Lake Orion. A celebration of his life will take place on Sunday, September 15, 2019 from 2:00 – 6:00 pm at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 317 Clarkston Road, Lake Orion, MI 48362.
