Lois’ Obituary Faix, Lois Catherine of Flushing, age 87, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 15, 2019. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, September 20, at St. Robert Catholic Church in Flushing. Fr. Jonathan Perrotta officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Flint. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. on Thursday at Rossell Funeral Home in Flushing and 10 a.m. Friday at the church until the time of the Mass. A Rosary will be prayed 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Lois was born in Flint, Michigan on May 16, 1932, the daughter of Francis Pearl and Isabella Fitzhugh (Thompson) Gushen. She attended Kindergarten in Flushing at the school on Chamberlain St. While she was growing up, she and her family had several homes in the Flint area. She graduated from St. Michael Catholic High School in 1950. Lois married the late Louis John Faix on April 24, 1956. Prior to her marriage, she worked for several years as a secretary for both Metropolitan Life and Fisher Body in Flint. She raised her family in Washington, Michigan. Later in life she returned to Flushing and made it her home town. She spent the last ten years of her career working as a secretary for the State of Michigan. Lois was never happier than when she was singing or dancing. One of the highlights of her life was singing at Carnegie Hall with the St. Robert’s Church Choir. She also enjoyed participating in community theater, with “Mame” and “My Fair Lady” being two of her favorite shows. She is survived by her daughters, Susan (David ) Pype of Almont, Theresa (James) Williams of Manton, and Diane Faix of Flushing; sister, Donna Gushen, and sister-in-law, Pat (Paul) Rhoney; her dearly loved four grandchildren, Amanda (Jeremy) Sparks, Emily Williams, Forrest (Jessie) Williams, and Naomi Williams; her beloved great-grandchildren, Ethan, Trevor, and Garrett; and many nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Arthur, Carl, and Ken; and sister, Elaine. Read More
