Leroy Leon Johnson December 3, 1925 – September 10, 2019 Leroy Leon Johnson, age 93 of Roanoke, VA and formerly of Laurens, South Carolina, passed on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at the Berkshire Health and Rehabilitation Center in Vinton, Virginia. Leroy Leon Johnson was born on December 3, 1925, to Johnny Lee Johnson and Ruth Williams Johnson whom preceded him in death, along with his stepfather Turner Lee Williams, former wife Bessie Johnson, his son Larry Johnson and seven sisters and five brothers. Leroy began his early education in Laurens, South Carolina Public Schools and attending Poplar Spring AME Church in Laurens, South Carolina. Leroy relocated to Roanoke Virginia where he worked for Northern Southern Railroad for over 30 years as a track engineer. He retired from this position in 1986 after becoming disabled. One of the things he enjoyed the most was his dogs and hunting, he was an adventurous person and he loved his family. To cherish his memories is his wife Nettie Johnson, children; (Paul J.), (Tyrone J.), (Beverly J), (Claudine J), (Terry C.), (Johnny C.) and (Karen M.) his devoted daughter and care giver, stepchildren (Carla J.), (Dathea B.), (Wanda B.), (Nolan G.) and a host of grand children, great grand children, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
