November 26 1928 September 3 2019
June Chmurski (Knack) of Waupaca was born into eternal life Monday morning September 3 at the age of 90. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, June later graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, with a degree in Education—a pursuit which allowed her to touch the lives of many. June married Clifford Chmurski in 1954 and the couple spent 47 years together until Cliff’s passing in 2001. June and Cliff were always the fun ones. June and Cliff did not have a child—they had hundreds. June and Cliff spent years teaching in the Milwaukee Public School system. As a mathematics teacher, June had the ability to reach the entire classroom, not just the most-gifted students. Undoubtedly, her compassion and easing-going nature served many of Milwaukee’s youth well. June’s and Cliff’s generosity with their time and energy did not end in the classroom. They treated their nephews and nieces like children and grandchildren of their own. There was never a gift too extravagant (or too annoying to the recipient’s parents ) or an excursion that could not be made to brighten someone’s day. Upon retiring from teaching, June and Cliff moved to Waupaca full-time. For years, June and Cliff had owned various lake properties and enjoyed weekend get-a-ways but found the perfect spot to call home on Miner Lake. June and Cliff served as the gracious hosts to friends and family, planning activities on the lake every summer as well as June’s annual Christmas party with the neighbors every winter. In her spare time, June loved being around her friends and taking the “occasional” trip to the casino. She also loved traveling. June and Cliff always enjoyed going to “see what there is to see,” taking cruises and trips with family and friends across the world, and always brining back a souvenir or two. June will be remembered not only for her generosity, but for her quick wit and zest for life. She never missed the opportunity to “give you the business” and her active lifestyle is an example for which everyone should strive. June is survived by nephews Michael Chmurski (Tammy) and Mark Herlach (Alice), nieces Mary Cento (Don), and Marsha Babler (Scott), as well as her grandnephews Paul (Laura), Brook, Nick, and Joe, and grandnieces Natalie (Rodney), Carolyn, Alexa, and Kimberly. June was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff, brother, Lester Knack, and sister-in-law, Millie Knack. Visitation will be held at Holly Funeral Home, on Sunday, September 8, from 1 to 3 pm, with a private family burial on Monday, September 9 in Milwaukee. Memorial gifts may be made to Notre Dame School of Milwaukee, 1420 W Scott Street, Milwaukee, WI 53204.
