Jose Enrique Cordova (Kike), 79 passed away Friday, September 6, 2019 at his beloved home in Houston, Texas. He was born on March 12,1940 to Vicente Arturo Cordova and Ana Otilia Hernández in Usulutan, El Salvador. Jose had a passion for music very early on life in life and joined the family mariachi band named “Los Gorriones” at the age of 8. He pursued this passion for music and mastered several instruments such as guitar, vihuela, violin and guitarron. As he matured in his career as a musician he became one of the greats which got him to play for politicians and prominent families in his home country. He loved watching and debating over soccer; his favorite teams being El Salvador International soccer team, Real Madrid and C.D. Aguila. He was known for his loyalty to others, quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. Jose is survived by the love of his life of 30 years Santos Norma Alfaro; daughters Ana (Carolina) Cordova, Norma (Yesenia) Cordova, Lorena Cordova; sons, Kevin Cordova, Henry Cordova, Alexis Cordova, Julio Cordova, William Cordova; grandchildren, Liam Almanza, Hailey Turcios, Berta Cordova, Kathy Cordova, Ryan Cordova, Cesar Cordova, Nancy Chirinos, Kaylin Webster, Jayden Webster, Krystal Rueben, Julian Contreras and Natalia Contreras. A visitations will be held from 5:00pm – 9:00pm at SouthPark Funeral Home & Cementery on Wednesday September 11. The burial for Jose will be held at 10:00am in the same location on Thursday, September 12. Serving as pallbearers; Kevin, Henry, Alexis, Julio, William and Wilfredo. José Enrique Cordova (Kike), de 79 años, falleció el viernes 6 de septiembre de 2019 en su amada casa en Houston, Texas. Nació el 12 de marzo de 1940 de padres Vicente Arturo Cordova y Ana Otilia Hernández en Usulután, El Salvador. José tenía pasión por la música a muy temprana edad y se unió al grupo mariachi de la familia llamado “Los Gorriones” a la edad de 8 años. Perseguió esta pasión por la música y dominó varios instrumentos como la guitarra, vihuela, violín y guitarrón. A medida que maduraba en su carrera como músico se convirtió en uno de los grandes musicos que lo llevaron a tocar para políticos y familias prominentes en su país de origen. Le encantaba ver y debatir sobre el fútbol; sus equipos favoritos eran el equipo internacional de fútbol de El Salvador, el Real Madrid y C.D. Aguila. Era conocido por su lealtad a los demás, su ingenio rápido, su sonrisa infecciosa, y su espíritu bondadoso y compasivo. Los servicios conmemorativos se celebrarán a partir de las 5:00pm – 9:00pm en Southpark Funeral Home & Cementary el Miércoles 11 de Septiembre.
